Participant accident medical

Markel offers participant accident medical coverage when packaged with the following Markel programs:

Camp and youth recreation
Cheerleading gyms
Dance schools
Gymnastics schools
Martial arts schools

Markel also offers stand alone participant accident medical insurance for group activities and organizations of almost any type. This program covers the cost of medical treatment for a covered accident for all registered participants and volunteers for whom premium has been paid.  Coverage can be written on a primary or excess basis (coodinates with existing health coverage). There is a 52 week benefit period (longer may be available).

Note: International exposures can be covered such as US church missions that include trips overseas.

Church
Bible study, mission groups, vacation bible school, choir tour, and youth ministries

Civic
Scouting, Rotary club, American Legion, Shriners, and Knights of Columbus

Recreational
Marching band, booster clubs, sportsman/archery clubs, Boys and Girls clubs, and performing arts

Volunteers
Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, hospital, fundraisers and museums/libraries

Ineligible risks include:
  • Associations and trusts
  • Extreme sports (including mud races, obstacle courses and ropes courses)
  • Open-to-public risks
